Local Business Receives $650k State Loan for Expansion

The Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) today awarded a $650,000 low-interest loan to TruFood Mfg. of O’Hara Township, according to Senator Randy Vulakovich.

The loan, which was awarded through North Side Industrial Development Company, Inc., will allow TruFood to purchase machinery and equipment to meet the production obligations of several new contracts.

The company, a confection and snack food manufacturer, requires two additional production and bagging lines to be constructed along with significant building modifications to accommodate the installation of the new production lines. The project is expected to create 55 new full-time jobs and retain 470 existing jobs.

“I am pleased that PIDA is partnering in this effort to help TruFood expand and increase the number of jobs in our community,” said Senator Vulakovich.

PIDA is an independent authority staffed and regulated through the Department of Community and Economic Development.  The Authority provides capital for building acquisition, construction and renovation work, machinery, and equipment loans along with working capital line of credit loans, primarily for manufacturers, industrial developers, research and development firms, agricultural processors and employers looking to establish national or regional headquarters in Pennsylvania.
